Step inside your private retreat...

"An absolutely grand spot on the Tayvallich peninsula."

A house Designed Around the View

Built for the former owner of the Tayvallich Estate, Coshandrochaid is an architect-designed contemporary house set within almost ten acres of its own private grounds, overlooking An Grianan and the hills and sea lochs of the southern Tayvallich peninsula.

Secluded and wonderfully private, the house was designed to make the most of its elevated position. Light moves through the rooms throughout the day, while every bedroom looks out towards either the sea loch or the wild hill country of Knapdale. The landscape is never very far away.

Downstairs is made for coming together. At its heart is a generous open-plan kitchen and dining room, centred around the Aga and with plenty of space for long breakfasts, cooking together and dinners that have a habit of stretching into the evening.

Two separate sitting rooms, each with a large bespoke wood-burning fireplace, mean there is space to gather around the fire as well as somewhere quieter to retreat with a book from the house’s well-stocked library.

Upstairs, three bedrooms make the most of the views: a king bedroom with en-suite bathroom; a second bedroom which can be arranged as either a king or two singles, with an en-suite shower room; and a further king bedroom with access to a separate bathroom. A separate sitting room and home office has a double sofa bed, providing additional flexibility when required.

Practical things have been thought about too. There is a downstairs wet room for returning from swims and muddy walks, a laundry room with washer and dryer, a walk-in larder, Starlink Wi-Fi, and a collection of books and games for slower days at home.

Outside, two ancient stone barns form a sheltered courtyard with parking for up to four cars. One of the barns can also be made available for secure bike storage by prior arrangement.

Coshandrochaid is a spacious house, but never an imposing one. It was designed to sit quietly within its surroundings — somewhere for families and friends to come together, find a little space of their own, and watch the light, weather and landscape change beyond the windows.

A house for long dinners and muddy boots, cold swims and warm fires, quiet mornings and doing absolutely nothing at all.
