Into the wild

And here, as sages say, in days long flown –

Here, on this stormy, barren, blasted ridge,

Luxuriant forests rose; and far away

Swept the bold hills beneath the gazer’s eye,

In beautiful succession, dark with leaf –

An ocean of freshing verdure toss’d

Bu gales Atlantic.

One of the least explored part of the Scotland and distinctly different for other parts of the Scotland, the West Coast is rugged, densely green, sparsely populated and wild. The climate is wet and mild, ferns carpet the ground and trees in ancient forests are covered in moss and lichen, as are rocks that sits in valleys with water cascading over them, as though in the Jurassic era.

Dominated by the sea, the many waterways create fingers of land which makes Argyll impossible to traverse as the crow flies. Nestled in the heart of the argyll and surrounded by three different Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) and five different Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Coshandrochaid offers a unique base to explore this wilderness.
